Westfield NZ unveiled today, the opening of its specialty stores at its $55 million redevelopment of the Westfield St Lukes shopping centre in Auckland.
The new development includes over 150 fashion, food, and lifestyle stores and some of New Zealand and Australia’s most well respected fashion brands including Colorado; Amazon; Esprit; Rodd & Gunn; Line 7; Cue Design; and, Scarpa.
The centre will feature outstanding High Street retailers, new to Westfield NZ centres, including L’Occitane, and Stella Gregg.
“Our redevelopment at St Lukes aims to provide an environment that caters for these upmarket fashion brands and, as such, can satisfy the growing demand from the affluent population that makes up the St Lukes trade area,” said John Widdup, Westfield New Zealand Director.
This week’s opening will be followed by the final opening of the centre with the completion of an 8 screen multiplex cinema complex in April 2003. The cinemas will be a joint venture between Village Cinemas and Sky City Cinemas.
The St Lukes redevelopment has generated around 1000 jobs during construction, and 300 permanent additional jobs going forward. This is in addition to the 1000 people now employed at Westfield St Lukes.
Westfield St Lukes is the flagship of the Westfield New Zealand portfolio with current sales of $212 million and around 9 million customer visits a year.
