Westfield America Trust has announced the grand opening of Westfield Shoppingtown West County, located in Des Peres, Missouri, after a $US237 million redevelopment.
Acquired by Westfield in 1994, the 583,000 square foot (54,000 square metre) Shoppingtown closed in January 2001 and underwent a 20-month comprehensive redevelopment and expansion, bringing the centre to 1.2 million square feet (112,000 square metres).
The $US237 million redevelopment features the first and only Nordstrom store in the state, along with flagship Famous-Barr and Lord & Taylor stores and a remodelled JCPenney.
The centre will also house St. Louis’ first Galyan’s, an outdoor and lifestyle retailer, and more than 175 new specialty stores.
“We are very excited to open the new Westfield Shoppingtown West County,” said Westfield’s Managing Director Peter Lowy. “We are opening two months earlier than originally planned, on budget, and with 95% of the centre fully leased.”
In addition to the new 185,000 square foot Nordstrom, the expansion line-up also includes many stores that are new to the St. Louis region including Coldwater Creek, Adrienne Vittadini, Apple, Charlotte Russe, Aldo, Benetton, Llandro, Guess, Rampage, and Torrid, as well as familiar favourites such as bebe, Build-a-Bear Workshop, Coach, Chico’s, Godiva, Forever 21, and J.Jill.
