Westfield Eastgardens redevelopment project completed

The refurbishment and expansion of Westfield Eastgardens, ownedby the Terrace Tower Group of Companies, has been completedfollowing today’s opening of a third level of retail incorporatinga new Big W discount department store, Woolworths supermarket,Rebel and 65 specialty stores.

The redevelopment, which began late last year, has also seen theentire refurbishment of the existing centre mall areas, food court,fresh food market, amenities and internal signage to match thestyle of the new third level.

New specialty stores include homeware retailers Bay Swiss andAdairs, an expanded Surf Dive n Ski store and new mix ofentertainment and lifestyle stores including Electronics Boutique,Australian Geographic the ABC Shop together with a children’sretailer precinct incorporating Pumpkin Patch, Shoes n Sox and anEarly Learning Centre.

The Fresh Food Market on level 1 outside Coles supermarket hasbeen refurbished and Coles and Target have also undergone arefurbishment. Similarly the Hoyts cinema complex is being expandedto include 2 new mega-screen cinemas and is undergoing arefurbishment of the existing 6 cinemas which is expected to openin early December.

The centre also now offers parking for 3,300 cars over 5colour-coded easy-to-navigate levels with direct access into thecentre.

Westfield Joint Chief Operating Officer Mr Bob Jordan said theredevelopment of Westfield Eastgardens had resulted in a morecontemporary and sophisticated shopping experience for the easternsuburbs community.

“Through the redevelopment and refurbishment of the centre, wehave created a new and exciting shopping destination thatincorporates an outstanding range of fashion, homewares, food andentertainment retailers in one convenient location,” he said

“Westfield Eastgardens is also now the only shopping centre inNSW to house three discount department stores, Kmart, Target andBig W,” Bob said.

Terrace Tower Group of Companies Managing Director Mr DavidDinte said the redevelopment of Westfield Eastgardens hadrespositioned the centre as the superior shopping facility in theeastern suburbs.

“The redevelopment cements the position of the centre as one ofthe strongest performing centres in Australia and the changes willensure its appeal to a broader customer base in the eastern suburbsof Sydney, ” he said.

Westfield Eastgardens is located in the South-Eastern suburbs ofSydney and was first opened in 1987. The locality receivedrecognition of its regional importance when the centre andsurrounding area was given its own suburb identification ofEastgardens approximately two years ago.
